Midday Severe Weather Update - Southeast

Above is a recent regional radar image showing the progression of severe storms across the southeast.  As you can see, isolated supercell thunderstorms have developed / are developing ahead of the main line of thunderstorms extending from central Tennessee into southwest Louisiana.

A very dangerous storm passed through the Jackson, MS area around 11am CDT and produced reportedly widespread damage and injury from a tornado:

Below is a close up view of the Jackson radar about 15 minutes after the reported touchdown time:

I'll make a more detailed post on this particular storm later today and include radar data from the exact time of the event.

Tornado Watches continue for much of the region at this time:

The threat of severe storms, including tornadoes, will eventually spread into portions of eastern Tennessee and Georgia later this afternoon and into this evening.
