Severe Weather Outlook for Today

The above is the latest severe weather outlook for today from the SPC.   Severe thunderstorms are forecast within the areas outlined in yellow.   Along the Northeastern corridor, large hail and strong winds are the greatest threats, although an isolated tornado also cannot be ruled out.

In the Plains, severe thunderstorms are forecast to develop late this afternoon into this evening along a dryline from southwest Nebraska, Southward near the Colorado/Kansas border.  Large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes will be possible with this activity.  We'll be heading to this area, with a preliminary target in the Colby, KS to McCook, NE area.  Stay tuned!

It is possible that some strong storms will form later this morning from the Texas/Oklahoma panhandles into northwestern Oklahoma.  Marginally severe hail will be possible with any storm that forms in this region.

I'm guessing you'll post your thoughts on Joplin when you have time?
