Severe Weather Outlook for Today - Tuesday, July 19, 2011

A broad region is forecast to have a "slight" risk of severe thunderstorms, mainly this afternoon and evening, from portions of the northern Rockies, Eastward into the upper Mississippi Valley and then Southeastward as far as the mid-Atlantic coastal bend and Delmarva region.

At the moment there are no specific boundaries present or forecast that are expected to focus a greater risk of severe weather in any particular location(s) within the overall risk area.  The greatest threats in the Northern portions of the risk area would be large hail and damaging winds, with isolated tornadoes possible with any storm that is able to remain isolated and become well organized.

In the Ohio and Tennessee Valley area, Eastward to the coastal bend and Delmarva region, strong, possibly damaging wind gusts will be the primary severe weather threat with any organized severe storm that develops later today.  Some hail to near severe limits will also be possible in this region.
