Severe Weather Threat - Including Tornadoes - Ohio Valley This Afternoon...

Above is the latest severe weather outlook for this afternoon and evening from the SPC in Norman, OK. Severe thunderstorms are forecast within the yellow shaded area on the above image. As you can see, this threat includes Evansville, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Columbus, Ft. Wayne, Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

Large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes are possible with severe storms that form in this region, mainly from mid-afternoon into this evening and at least early tonight.  An isolated strong and/or long-track tornado is also possible.

Residents across this region should remain alert this afternoon and evening.  Listen to local media or NOAA Weather Radio for later updates and possible warnings.

Due to the expected timing of this event, much of the severe weather threat will take place after dark.  Be sure that you have a NOAA Weather Radio with battery back-up on hand in case nighttime severe weather threatens your area.

I'll be making a separate post later this morning about a severe weather threat in Texas for the overnight hours tonight.
