Computer forecast models and climatological signals are hinting at the likelihood of a storm system taking shape along the Eastern seaboard for the middle of next week.
Below is the European (ECMWF) model valid 8am EDT on Wednesday morning, November 7th, showing a low pressure center developing rapidly along the outer banks of the North Carolina coast:
The low is forecast to move quickly to the North/Northeast, reaching southern New England by 8am EDT on Thursday morning, November 8th:
While this system will not even be close to the strength of Hurricane Sandy for sure, any type of low pressure system that will generate strong, gusty winds, locally heavy rain and even some snow is not something that we need to see across the region so soon after Sandy.
I have held off for a day or two before making this post, but model consistency has become such that I feel a heads-up is warranted.
I will post another update tomorrow with more specifics on what is likely to take place.
